Attended Atlanta Public Schools through High School.

Attended and Graduated from Vanderbilt University with a B.A. cum Laude, June 1962.

Attended and Graduated from Columbia University Medical School in New York City – College of
Physicians and Surgeons in 1966 with an M.D.

Finished Medical Internship at Bellevue Hospital – First Medical Division in New York City – June
1967.

Finished First Year of Medical Residency at Bellevue Hospital – First Medical Division – June of
1968.

Was in Public Health Service for two years in the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the CDC from
1968 to 1970.

Completed Second Year of Medical Residency at Harlem Hospital Center – Columbia Service in
June 1971.

Completed Endocrinology Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical School – June 1972 to July
